French Traffic Fatalities Worse Than U.S. 1955

One Killed and Three Hurt in Grundy Va Wreck
In Grundy Virginia last night about 7 p.m. a car driven by Vernon Smith 21 of Conaway collided with a parked tandem trailer and slid into the Levisa River. Vernon Smith died and Clovis Smith 20 and Ronald Gale Hamilton holds critical injuries. Ervin Ramey 20 of Mouthcard is less seriously hurt. Four occupants were hospitalized with three in critical condition. The car reportedly skidded on unusually icy roads described as the slickest ever seen. Vernon and Clovis Smith were trapped for about 45 minutes before rescue. The Grundy Hospital treated the survivors.

French Luxury Liner Damaged In Seastorm
