Southern lawmakers oppose turnpike toll hike plan

They said the Virginia Parkways authority operates autonomously and may fund economic development from tolls while out-of-state users bear most costs. They urged studying tolls finances and spending before approving more funds or restructuring the authority.

Toll increases spark trucking industry protest in West Virginia
Solution notes an expected $50,000 toll rise next year facing haulers who have signed long terms without warning. Mercer County firms oppose the move, citing higher registration fees and taxes. Weiss Trucking calls the 75 cent car tolls insufficient but a $2.75 truck toll could hurt local business, urging a flat fee or 50 percent discount. Remember, Without Trucks, America Stops.
