In Ramsey auditorium the 1950 Community Christmas Tree party drew hundreds of people including many children and adults. Santa Claus greeted the crowd as 2,000 tots received gifts and goodies, making it a highly successful event with no child leaving unhappy.
About 75 youths who missed gifts yesterday can collect them today at the Boy Scout offices on the second floor of the Municipal Building between 10 and 12 AM. This is their last chance to receive the presents. unclaimed items may be reassigned tomorrow.

In Whittier California on December 24 two waitresses Mrs Barbara Lasker 26 and Mrs Louisa Burton 40 were found dead in a car parked before a hotel where Lasker lived. Police believe a rusted exhaust pipe leaked carbon monoxide as they talked inside the car. Lasker left a 6 year old son while Burton was mother to four children.
In Penticton BC on a snowy Mount Okanagan crash site, co-pilot Leo Doucette and pilot Capt. Quinton Moore died after helping 15 passengers and a stewardess escape injuries. Ground and air rescue teams reached the scene as survivors began the five mile descent to a ranch. Survivors praised the miraculous landing of the DC-3 with no warning and a rough glide to safety.
Washington dispatch reports prospects of a white Christmas were dim as a strong high pressure system over Canada pushes cold polar air toward the northeast and midwest. Snow squalls and sharp winds were possible in the Appalachians and Great Lakes region with cooler air spreading toward the East Coast.
