Families of Tech victims push Virginia gun and mental health reforms
In Richmond, relatives of those slain or injured in the Virginia Tech shootings vow to lobby the General Assembly for stricter gun purchase oversight and a revamped mental health system. They hope to close the gun show loophole, though opposition exists from gun rights voices. The effort is led by Andrew Goddard and other families seeking to honor victims with meaningful policy change.

Snowstorm blamed for nine deaths across Midwest
A powerful winter storm swept the Midwest causing at least nine deaths and widespread outages. Minnesota Wisconsin and Michigan posted winter storm warnings as the core moved north across the Great Lakes. Up to a foot of snow fell in parts of Wisconsin and northeastern Minnesota with strong winds and freezing rain disrupting travel and knocking out thousands of power lines. Airlines canceled hundreds of flights at Chicago O'Hare and utilities reported tens of thousands without power across Wisconsin Michigan and Illinois. Several multi vehicle crashes occurred on icy highways from the Plains to Texas as the storm disrupted travel and daily life.
