Frankfurt Germany December 23 American servicemen and women delayed by bad weather are expected to be en route to the United States before midnight. Maj Gen Emery Wetzel, commander of the Military Air Transport Service Atlantic Division, said the airlift of Hungarian refugees did not delay U.S. servicemen. Wetzel cited bad weather hampering both refugee airlift and regular Christmas traffic. A report said about 900 Americans were stranded in Frankfurt as planes assigned to bring them home were diverted to fly refugees.
