New York December 28 Postmaster General James A Farley who visited Paris with former Mayor James J Walker was called a disgusting spectacle by Samuel Seabury He said he was happy to see his old friend Jimmy Walker and returned from a weeks rotation abroad just in time for Christmas with his three children Farley refused to comment further on the Seabury inquiry into the Walker resignation stating his statement speaks for itself
John W. Brodix, 52, secretary to Cormeling Vanderbilt Jr., was killed on Backbone Mountain near Germania West Virginia when struck by a speeding hit and run car as he approached Vanderbilt’s stalled vehicle. Brodix’s body was dragged 300 feet. Vanderbilt, who was returning from California, later arrived in Oakland Maryland and aided in the investigation.
Grays Harbor was blocked by slides and washouts causing travel delays across eastern and western Washington for two days. Central Washington reports blockages and marooned towns, while North Toledo floods wash out roads and communications. Coeur d Alene mining towns Wallace Kellogg Burke isolated as rains trigger slides. British Columbia reports earth slides and ruined water traffic. Floods cause three more deaths bringing toll to 23 dead and many injured.
Philadelphia December report says an alleged extortion plot targeting Lag Bing J. Rosenwald was foiled after a writer approached a police trap. Eight detectives closed in after the suspect walked toward a street corner carrying a demanded 380,000, with an officer posing as Rosenwald.

Charles H. His, president of the Virginian Railway, died at his Norfolk home at 4 am after a two week illness. Born April 6 1862 in Nelson County Virginia he joined Norfolk and Western in 1880 rising through ranks to lead the Virginian in its growth as a premier railroad.
Roanoke Virginia December 23 a man identified as J Frank Duling of Enon West Virginia was killed when he leaped from a liquor car to escape county officers near the city. The car ran 409 feet and crashed into a filling station fence after officers shot out a rear tire. The vehicle bore New Jersey tags and contained 110 gallons of whiskey with a West Virginia license plate under the front seat. Duling’s body was identified by friends and his wife who was en route from Beckley. Deputies Simmons and Bradley chased the sedan from Boone Mile as it fled at high speed.
Miss Margaret Peevey a 28 year old deaf mute was beaten eight times shot through the head and found in a meadow two miles from Grand Ida Michigan. Patrolman Thomas Marshall identified the body at the morgue and her father Howard G Peevey confirmed. The attack left two teeth knocked out and marks indicate the body lay in the field for a day or more.
A Dillinger gang member was captured a few hours after an Indianapolis robbery. Capt Staga quoted Crouch saying his share was 4200 dollars. The capture linked to other gang members Price Krause and Milton Krause, with suspicions they aided the Michigan City prison break.
