A Daily Telegraph notice from a fire department member warns the public to exercise extreme caution during the days between Christmas and New Year. Dry trees and candles spark fires, risking homes and lives. keep combustibles away from trees and soak fibrous decorations to reduce ignition risk.
A wedding of unusual interest will take place at the bride’s home on Tuesday the 26th when Miss Mollie Crockett wed Mr. A. P. Penn of Martinsville a traveling salesman. Miss Crockett is widely connected and popular in Graham and is the youngest daughter of the late Grat Crockett. Mr Penn is well known locally. The piece notes aging residents and local social events including a German Club dancing pavilion in the Shufflebarger building and upcoming holiday dances. Arthur Mitchell a Bellview Academy student visits his Graham father.
Scholars depart for Christmas vacations as Dr. A. L. Peterman tours Texas and prepares to join Mrs. Peterman in Nashville before Graham. School resumes January 7. Local visitors include J. K. Turner and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bowen. Lethia Witten and Mittie Hicks return from Bristol, while Roanoke College and the University of Virginia students stay home. Dr. B. Frazier moves to a new Morton street residence. Hon C. Carrigan of Moandaville writes about preserving a mound relic, seeking public suggestions.
A local movement led by G M Fadden seeks state purchase of Mound in Moundsville. The nine hundred foot circumference hill stands seventy feet high with a grove, in a central lot that could yield valuable building sites if leveled and sold. The owners resist a forced sale and plan to cash in without legislative action.
The Virginia Bridge and Iron Company of Roanoke won a large contract for seventy five bridges and about a mile of trestle on the Tidewater east of Roanoke. The firm will deliver bridges in spring and finish the entire lot by fall 1907 with an estimated price between 600000 and 700000 dollars.
The review praises Creston Clarke as Monsieur Beaucaire in the play and urges readers to attend at Elke Opera House next Saturday evening December 30th. It lauds Clarke as a superb actor and notes audiences call his performance the cleverest seen.
Christ Episcopal Church holds services this morning at 11 and tomorrow at 10 80. The Christmas morning program includes Hark the Herald Angels Sing Mendelssohn Jubilate Deo Offertory trio The Pilgrims of the Night Westbrook and others Bell Amen and Joy to the World recessional.

One hundred fifty thousand on strike, bakeries looted, banks closed, power and light scarce, and two girls stripped and exposed in the cold near the Hebrew market amid unrest.
The Horton mine of Cardiff Coal Co remains burning since December 4 after seven miners suffocated. State Mine Inspector recommended airtight sealing with a four foot wall to smother the flames. A dam and pump system generate steam to quell the fire. roof collapses and suspended work mark the damage, with coal and timber losses likely main.
John C. McCall son of the New York Life president returned from Paris aboard the La Touraine carrying a statement from Judge Andrew Hamilton. McCall would not discuss the mission beyond the report, noting Hamilton desires to return but is advised by physicians not to travel this season.
The San Francisco birth of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Clark's daughter prompts Senator Clark of Montana to promise a $1,000,000 settlement for his grandchild. The family celebrates with jewelry advertisements from Eivzer's.
Shepherdstown reports J E Romine owner of a jewelry store and repair shop left for parts unknown with much stock two weeks after marrying Maud Swain. He wrote a note saying he failed in business and was going to Canada. His wife is distressed by his disappearance.
John H. Bennington, former assemblyman and wealthy banker, was brutally assaulted in his 142 Greenpoint Avenue office Brooklyn. Police say assailant William Seims, son of banker George Seims, aimed to rob him and was locked up. Bennington hospitalized with probable skull fracture.
A mob of African Americans attacked a white manager at a turpentine camp near Ewing between Fargo and St George in Valdosta region. The manager fired from his barricade, killing five men and two women and injuring seven others.
