Officials say displaced coal miners and veterans will be hired for the Patriot Gardens Golden Delicious Apple Project, a 5.3 million plan within a 90 million abandoned mine lands initiative across Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The WV DEP says 100000 trees will be planted on 500 acres in Nicholas and Clay counties, and the number of ex miners to be hired was not disclosed.
