Coal rule sparks bipartisan backlash and industry fears
Political leaders from both parties criticized the stream protection rule as job harming and costly. Senate leaders vow to use the Congressional Review Act to overturn the policy while White House officials defend it as restoring mined streams. Opponents warn of layoffs and higher energy costs, with supporters citing water protections and reefing mining sites.
