Bland County dog catcher reinstated after grievance panel ruling
Bland County, Bland, Va. Keith Myers, the animal control officer, was reinstated after a grievance panel ruled he acted correctly and professionally following an incident on Route 42 in Crandon. The panel found the county failed to prove disobedience of supervisor instructions and that the county did not follow its personnel policy guidelines. Myers said he observed a driver illegally pass a vehicle on a solid yellow line heading toward an oncoming dump truck, then sought identification from the offender at a Crandon store. He stressed county limits on his authority and said he plans to resume duties with citizen backing.
