Swedish declarer makes four spades for 620 in World Championship
In the 1977 Australia vs Sweden world championship match, North-South opened 1NT and South led king of diamonds. A misfired lead from West’s king and East’s six set off a pivotal misread that allowed the Swedish declarer to force all tricks. Despite best defense, declarer achieved a four spade contract for 620 points, a rare success from the era.
