Successful Test Of Drug Performed By Area Native
Bluefield Virginia native Dr. Michael J. Oblinger announced on December 9 the successful testing of a second generation antibiotic named moxalactam for patients allergic or immune to existing antibiotics. The drug, to be marketed as Moxam by Eli Lilly, has FDA approval and is distributed to hospitals nationwide. Lilly's Dr. W S H Shedden noted its unique chemical ring and that moxalactam is not a penicillin, representing a new class of antibiotics.
