Likely to Stop Sale of Small Two Family Homes
A New York real estate delegation told federal tax officials that a tax board decision requiring 12 percent profit tax due on first cash payments would curb sales of one and two family houses to buyers with limited means. They argued the tax could exceed initial cash received, reversing a prior treasury ruling. No immediate action is expected until Commissioner Blair rules.
