Miss Conrad cried out thank God and became violently hysterical while Miss Graham offered comfort to her companion.

Bristol, Va., Dec. 15. Lizzie Vand a pretty twelve year old girl in short dresses eloped to Bristol tonight from Hiawatha W. Va. with Pete Domenreck an Italian thirty years old. They were arrested at the union station. The Italian ordered to leave town and the girl held pending advice from her parents. The girl said she did not love him and wished to return home. She was persuaded against her will to leave this morning. The girl appears well dressed and from refined surroundings. strong feeling against the Italian is noted.
Civic leaders describe Minneapolis turning 5 000 acres of vacant lots into 2 000 000 sq ft of vegetables and 250 000 sq ft of flowers. Tomatoes dropped to 75 cents a bushel from 1 59, while gardens united diverse residents and boosted city pride.
Briceville Tennessee reports nine more bodies removed from the Cross Mountain mine. The death toll reaches sixty six with five rescued. Officials expect two more days to finish exploring the mine and federal and state investigators begin assessing the disaster cause.

The appeal concerns Thomas Jennings who was convicted in Chicago and sentenced to death for the murder of Charles D Miller a Rock Island Railroad clerk. Miller was shot in his home.
Governor Harmon of Ohio declines to attend the January 8 Jackson Day banquet in Washington where the National Democratic committee meets. William Jennings Bryan has accepted and will speak at the dinner.
On September 18 1910 White defended his daughter from an intruder who entered via a bedroom window. The intruder was shot in the hand and fingerprints left on a balcony rail aided police in identifying the killer. Ex convict Jennings was arrested and convicted largely on fingerprint evidence. His lawyers sought an appeal to challenge the fingerprint testimony, a first of its kind in higher courts.
Indianapolis dispatch reports the grand jury hearing new allegations in the dynamite conspiracy inquiry. Kansas City police chief W. Griffin testified about five explosions, with details not previously revealed. Mary Dye, former secretary to the International Association of Bridge and Structural Iron Workers, testified about records from their headquarters.
A small bundle of indictments, about four, is expected to be returned next Tuesday or Wednesday against a man living in California. He is suspected of complicity in nationwide dynamite plots, ending the western leg of the investigation and transferring the action to Indianapolis where another grand jury sits.

Washington December 15. The joint committee on sugar conditions began an investigation into why sugar prices rose last summer. Letters were sent to all beet and cane refiners requiring sworn statements on refining costs, raw sugar costs, stock held July 1 1911, contracted but undelivered raw sugar, delivery dates, and refined sugar stocks. Beets processing costs and beet prices must also be reported.
Robert MacGregor of Cholly was ordered held without bail for the circuit court after a sensational preliminary exam for the murder of Cyril Sparling of Ubly. Nurse Margaret Gibbs of Port Huron, accused as an accessory after the fact, waived examination and posted $1,000 bail.
Columbus Ohio December 15 by unanimous vote the state board of administration as a parole board summarily rejected the application of Charles L Warriner who sought liberty on parole after about two years of a six year sentence for embezzling 643000 of Big Four Railroad funds where he served as treasurer at Cincinnati
A new judge is sought in the fourth district amid concerns that the present situation harms litigants. The Department of Justice is asked to appoint a clerk whose position is to be abolished, with a deputy under one who will retain his job.
