Rock man pleads guilty to first degree murder
Jesse Raymond Overton, 26, of Rock, admitted in Mercer County Circuit Court to murdering Keith Harvey, 53, of Windmill Gap, by striking him with a frying pan and a clock before firing a shotgun. He faces life in prison with a possibility of parole after 15 years. A second defendant, Terri Barker, 35, of Rocky Gap, Va., was charged as an accessory after the fact and awaiting trial.

Brian L. Martin formerly employed at Alderson Federal Prison Camp faces a March 19 2002 criminal trial on two counts of allegedly initiating sexual contact with a female inmate on February 28 1999. A related civil suit filed February 26 seeks 1.5 million dollars in damages from Martin and others in supervisory roles. Drug Free Communities Bill boosts Mercer County program
