Two fires in Princeton damaged Western Steer restaurant on Oakvale Road and a residence on Old Athens Road this weekend. ERVFD reported about $15,000 in grill system damage at Western Steer, likely from a grease fire, with six employees unharmed. A separate wood stove fire at the Old Athens Road home caused $10,000 in attic and chimney damage, with no injuries.
A Few Good Men led the weekend box office with about 16 million in its debut. Home Alone 2 Lost in New York followed with around 8.2 million as The Bodyguard and Aladdin competed for third place.

Bluefield Virginia mine owner Bill Rusty Skews donated 3000 dollars to the Greater Bluefield Community Center to help finance a health fitness complex expansion. The project includes a 60 by 40 foot cit izens arena and a similar size weight room. Skews presented the check to GBCC director George Simons who responded with one year memberships for his 160 employees. He says the gift aids families and health while reducing insurance costs.
