Mercer County hearing on smoke free ordi nance faces business concerns

Opponents warn the rule could shutter shops and push patrons to counties with smoking allowances. A second hearing is set for 6 30 p m at the Mercer County Courthouse.

New Green Valley School project advances in CEFP plan
Grant said the district will advertise for architectural services and bids could go out by fall or winter 2017 with construction possibly starting in spring 2018. The Green Valley school is in Phase I of the CEFP, with Phase II continuing Mercer County plans and placement of students from Glenwood and Brushfork.

New Mercer County School District Plan Seeks New Campus
The plan proposes a new pre K to second grade school on Blue Prince Road across from the Mercer County Health Department. It would house Brushfork Bluewell Montcalm Elementary students and merge Whitethorn Memorial schools. Fire claims two in Ghent home as investigators probe cause
