Trump edges toward lifting police surplus gear limits
Police groups expect President-elect Trump to rescind Obama era limits on surplus military gear for state and local departments. The 1033 program allowed access to grenade launchers bayonets armored vehicles and high powered firearms which officials say protect officers and public safety. Obama restricted the program in 2015 after Ferguson and San Bernardino shootings with 1800 items recalled and destroyed.
