Counsel for Dr Otto Fisher ear eye nose and throat specialist found guilty today of performing an illegal operation causing a girl’s death filed a motion for a new trial and warned the case could go to the supreme court if denied. The victim was Miss Lonnie Beckens of Harrisonburg Virginia a nurse. The jury verdict came after an eight day trial. Others indicted for the operation include Miss Luella Wateel Dr Fisher’s nurse and Orville Liskey Harrisonburg mail clerk who will be tried in January.
Fifty inmates of the West Virginia state prison at Moundsville appeared before the state parole board seeking pardons or paroles. Parole recommendations will be sent to Governor Howard M. Gore within a few days. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Donald Clark of Huntington the Rev. W. E. Pierce of Cameron and Dr. L. M. Robinson prison warden.
Memphis report details the discovery of Mia Charles Taylor, 15, beaten and unclad, her body in a trunk behind a Buntyn home and barbershop run by her husband. Police sought Taylor. divorce records indicate past threats, suit filed October 10 and later dismissed.
John L. Lewis was reelected international president of the United Mine Workers of America by unanimous vote in the biannual election of about 4000 coal unions across the United States and Canada. Philip Murray and Thomas Kennedy were reelected vice president and secretary treasurer, respectively, with all other offices contested but not yet canvassed.
Logan West Virginia authorities report two men under arrest after the slaying of 28 year old Nannie Carroll near Monaville. Carroll died in a Logan hospital after being wounded when an automobile party stopped nearby. D J Slone a meat cutter claimed the shooting was accidental and was arrested with Rodie Crockett who supported her account.
The House approved an agreement between American and Austrian commissions to fund Austria's debt and send $34,650,968 to the United States. The vote was 140 to 26 with limited opposition. The bill advances to the Senate. Rep Garner criticized the deal as favouring international bankers and paying only thirty cents on the dollar.

Pittsburgh December 11 Robert M Lambie chief of the West Virginia department of mines tonight was elected vice president of the Mining Institute America at the annual meeting held in the Roosevelt hotel.
Police in Buenos Aires announced the thwarted plot against Herbert Hoover with a raid on Estomba Street. Four bombs and weapons were seized, a detailed railway map found, and 1,500 guards deployed for Hoover’s visit. Two arrests were made, Carlos Gutierrez alias Alejandro Romany and Jaime Oliver alias Jaime Castro.
Police disclosed the discovery of a possible plot against President-elect Hoover. Chief Granerog met with government officials as the U S embassy investigated reports of an alleged network tied to recent anti state agitation and bombings. Authorities were rounding up suspects.
In Jersey City on December 11 Police guided Peter Kudzinowski to Lake Hopatcong to identify the site of a young girl's murder. He described luring the five year old Julia Miedgihmowska from a Sunday outing near Nolan's Point, choking her, and moving the body to a freight train across the river into Pennsylvania.
