Teacher arraigned for firearm at school
Doris Byrd transportation director at the Tazewell County Career and Technical Center was arraigned on a felony possession of a firearm on school property charge after a student found a loaded .38 revolver in her glove box and it discharged on school grounds. The weapon belonged to a relative and there was no injuries. The case includes a Jan. 7 preliminary hearing and a continuing investigation.

Explosive devices found in Princeton basement during raid
Local and federal authorities continued examining potentially explosive items recovered in a Princeton residence basement during a Wednesday night warrant. Det. Sgt. C. N. Poe said the items are under review by Princeton police and ATF at the state crime lab in South Charleston to determine legality. Michael Hicks, 33, of Princeton, was arrested on an unrelated fugitive charge from a perjury case in Giles County, Virginia, and transferred back there.

Thieves Steal Tandem Trailer From Bluefield Equipment Rental
Bluefield business reports its second trailer theft in six weeks. A tan tandem utility trailer was taken from 100 North Street after a prior theft in early November.
