McDowell County Man Killed in Route 83 Crash
A 21 year old McDowell County man Everett J. Blankenship died instantly when his car collided with a 1955 two ton truck on Route 83 near the Virginia border. Noah Blankenship suffered multiple injuries but was in satisfactory condition at Grace Hospital Welch. James Moses Brown and Charles Matney were uninjured. The truck driver, James Brown, escaped harm. The car was demolished and authorities described the fatal loss of control as the car struck the truck after the driver swerved to avoid it. The body rests at Fanning Funeral Home Saeger pending arrangements. No charges filed.
