Four wheel drive hits pole on Mercer Mall Road
A four wheel drive struck a telephone pole on Mercer Mall Road near the mall at 3:23 p.m. scattering cables. The unidentified female driver and her son were shaken but unharmed. Traffic was halted for crews to clear cables as deputies investigate.

Jail site in doubt could sit near Bland County line
TAZEWELL Va officials said a Pulaski County withdrawal from the New River Valley Regional Jail Authority could leave Tazewell County as a viable spot for a multi million dollar regional jail. A public hearing is set for next week and the joining deadline has shifted to March 30 1995.

New Leaders Take Reins of Bluefield Chamber
New officers and directors were inducted into the Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
