Alamco Inc says independent engineering estimates lift total proved reserves to 32.9 billion cubic feet as of July 1 1990 up over 11 percent from year end 1989. Proved developed reserves rise to 30.0 Bcf up 11.7 percent while undeveloped reserves reach 2.9 Bcf up 5.1 percent.
The Dow slid 7.92 to 2,602.48 as advancers edged declines 869 to 710 with 456 unchanged. Volume reached 256.38 million on the NYSE amid rebounding oil prices and lower interest rates as talks with Iraq created cautious optimism about a U.S. economic recovery. NCR rose 64% to 92% on a takeover bid clash with AT&T. NASDAQ gained 1.42 to 372.29 while S and P indices fell.
West Virginia business leader R W Buz Wilkinson urged state residents to adopt a more self sufficient mindset. Speaking at the Bluefield Chamber banquet he warned that an entitlement mentality harms the state and called for early education to instill pride and the value of earning one’s way. He noted the need for balanced labor and business dialogue as politicians weigh re elections and policy aims. Greg Jordan.
