Mercer County condemns land for Glenwood Park project
Five Mercer County commissioners awarded Mr and Mrs Tate Lohr 13000 for 87.6 acres of Lohr property at Glenwood Park, more than the 10500 offered after appraisers valued the land at 10300 to 10475. The ruling may be appealed within ten days, else Mercer Circuit Court settles. The land funds a 350000 recreation area with a 55 acre lake, largely county funded with federal support. Dam 14 Brush Creek Watershed project, Soil Conservation Service oversight, enlarging original flood control plan. Appraisers were Ben Peck L H Barbery Virgil Bailey and Rogers Hughes. Commissioners were J C Mallory James Bailey Jr Denny Nestor Oscar Adams and Herman Kirchner.
