The Community Christmas Tree drive in Bluefield is $21,719 short of its goal with 16 days left before the December 22 Little Jimmie party. Donations last Monday totaled $1,916 and more help is needed to fund toys, food, books and gloves for hundreds of children. Volunteers will buy toys at Walmart Bluefield Virginia as shopping teams begin.

Judge Denies Motion to Change Venue in Sexual Abuse Case
Mercer County circuit court denied a motion to change venue for a new trial of Clifford Randall Robinson, 40, facing more than 100 charges including sexual abuse of a minor by a parent or guardian and incest. The defendant was tried in July on counts of sexual assault, incest, and use of obscene material to seduce a minor, with two female victims alleged over two years. A Mercer County jury deliberated two hours then three hours before returning a unanimous verdict.
