Strong response to Salvation Army kettle drive grows
In Princeton and Bluefield area, the Salvation Army kettle drive gains momentum after the Nov 28 parade kickoff. Captain Burl LaBatte notes volunteers will staff two toy shops in Bluefield and Glenwood with major donation days on Dec 19 and 20 and distribution events on Dec 21 and 22. The STAR 95 fundraiser aims to raise 12000 dollars for food distribution serving 650 families, with ongoing volunteer recruitment and phone donations during the December 8 broadcast.

Area woman found guilty on drug charges
Monica Lorraine Amaker 39 of Bluefield was found guilty on all six counts of a superseding federal indictment. Indicted initially on three counts in July 2003, charges included events in 2003 and a Sept. 18, 2004 incident in Charleston. Amaker was sentenced to 87 months after a two day trial in Bluefield.

Drug case defendant seeks audio video copies of evidence
