Arrest in 11 year old aggravated robbery case
Beckley officer Lt Tom Helton said Mark Anthony Williams 29 of Beckley confessed to a 1994 aggravated robbery of Ellen Warren in Bluefield after an interrogation. Warren suffered head injuries and surgical repair after the 1994 attack in the parking garage on Princeton Avenue and Raleigh Street. Williams faces Raleigh County aggravated robbery and Beckley breaking and entering charges with a first court appearance set for Dec 14. Warren expressed relief at the charged warrant and closure.

SVCC to Open Off-Campus Training Center in Historic Building
SVCC hosts an open house and ribbon cutting Thursday at 4 p.m. at the old fuel building site. Warden Stan Young helped establish the off-campus training hub for the new state correctional center on Big Vein Mountain, with programs in computer and corrections training. The historic structure will soon house the center’s training labs and furnishings. SVCC operates similar sites in Jewell Ridge, Bandy, Tawersville and Lebanon. Courses will be chosen to meet community needs.
