Wreck Victims Stable No Charges Expected Says Police

Two women injured in a Saturday head on collision with a Trailways bus near Bluefield remain in stable condition at Bluefield Community Hospital. Freda Wood 40 of Dublin Virginia and her mother Viola Webb 61 of Bluefield suffered multiple injuries. Police say hydroplaning and loss of brakes caused the crash on US Route 52. No charges expected. Grant Rogers a bus passenger was injured but later released.

Governors propose $35 billion acid rain tax plan

Gov Thomas Kean urged Northeastern governors to back an Acid Rain Trust Fund a six year revolving loan plan funded by a tax on sulfur emitting utilities and bonds to finance install equipment to cut emissions.
