Florida adds to St Marks Migratory Bird Refuge
President Roosevelt signed an order expanding the St Marks Migratory Bird Refuge in Florida by 31 445 acres bringing total area to 62 700 acres from the St Marks river to the Aucilla River. The addition includes ponds and marshes with CCC labor enhancing dykes roads and water control works. The refuge, dating to 1931, sits near Seminole history sites and Lighthouse Island, home to waterfowl, geese, ducks and shorebirds that winter here.

First Chukar Shot in American Field Trial Record
In Verbant New York during a Bar arc field trial under the Cocker Field Trial Club of America Eltinge F Warner publisher of Field and Stream fired the first Chukar killed in America. Six pheasants were shot and three Chukars killed on the three quarter mile course. Fire and handlers praised Chukars for field trials noting they run and fly well and resemble partridge and grouse in size and proportions.

A bay lynx was wounded during a nighttime encounter with youths Kellison Ulric and Norman in Glasgow. A gray fox fought a resident dog in Red Hill, leading to the fox's death. Upcoming events include Tom Sawyer operetta and the Black Diamond school paper with staff listings and a 25 cent annual subscription. A Christmas banquet was postponed and a cooking school funded by the PT A is planned to raise $15 for school shrubbery.

Tragic hunting accident near Simon injures boy
In Canoe Hollow two miles from Simon West Virginia 11 year old Randal Blankenship son of Mr and Mrs Booker Blankenship was severely injured when his shotgun fired while he tramped the woods for squirrels. He lost his right hand and suffered injuries to his left hand face and nose. He walked about a mile to reach his home before being rushed to Wylie hospital for surgery.
