Appalachian Power seeks 138 kV rebuild in Bland and Wythe counties
Appalachian Power Company files with the State Corporation Commission a certificate of public convenience and necessity to construct a 138 kV transmission line in Bland and Wythe Counties. The project would largely reuse existing ROW, with three short relocations totaling about 9.4 miles and a 500 foot wide corridor flexible to final engineering. The route includes a mix of rebuilt near 69 kV ROW and new private land ROW and aims to remove the old 69 kV line crossing Rich Mountain in line with a USFS MOU.
