French Troops Evacuate Foreigners From Man Ivory Coast
French troops began evacuating foreigners from Man in the rebel held west as loyalists move toward the area to oust insurgents. At least five rebels were killed in gun battles, one French soldier wounded, about 80 French citizens in the Man region, and a White House spokesperson said Americans were being checked for presence. The rebels, calling themselves the Ivorian Popular Movement for the Greater West, also hold Danane near the Liberian border.
