About 400 junior and senior high school teachers and principals from Mingo McDowell Mercer Wyoming Monroe Summers and Raleigh counties attended a three day Southern West Virginia High School Teachers Institute at Beaver High School sponsored by the state department of education. Feeble Civil War Vets March Again in Review
Cincinnati August 27 Union veterans of the Civil War muster 700 in the sixty fifth annual Grand Army of the Republic parade. The march took 90 minutes for a mile long route as half the total 1500 veterans traveled by automobile. At today’s session they voted to meet in Des Moines in 1931 and election of officers is set for tomorrow. The group will visit Grant's birthplace at Point Pleasant Ohio on Friday. Names like James H B Jewel Colorado Harding Merrill Wichita and Ran 5ith Summel Fargo N C are noted as surviving Lincoln bodyguard members being urged for command. Jewel hails from Montgomery County Ohio and Summer from Franklin County Ohio.
