Charleston reports Warden C F McClintic told of a plot to arm and smuggle outside help into Moundsville state penitentiary after adoption of an NRA penal workers code. Three inmates planned to import a machine gun and explosives, but the scheme ended when they were watched.
Washington August 26 reconciling differences between non union coal operators and the United Mine Workers of America on a code of fair competition continued today with both sides caucusing over wage proposals. They tentatively agreed to a 40 hour work week for six months while a miners and operators committee studies potential reductions.
