Fate of local Red Cross to be decided soon by chapter board
The East River Area Mountain Chapter of the American Red Cross faces a board vote to decide whether to forfeit its charter. If not, charter revocation could follow from regional and national levels. The board meets next week with Sept 8 as a deadline. Dale notes 10 of 33 rechartering requirements were unmet locally, yet Red Cross services will continue and may improve. The chapter may become a certified service delivery unit, keeping donations and accounts local. The board was advised to digest all information before acting.
