Airman’s Body Found in Western Desert Crash Recovery
In Victorville California August 24 the body of an air force flier was found in the western desert raising to three the fatalities from a collision of two B 26 bombers last night. A fourth airman was critically injured and taken to March air force base hospital Riverside. The reserve unit of Long Beach municipal air field called up August 10 trained at this base. all four residents in the area, names withheld temporarily.

Beaver Band Plans Outlined
The Beaver Band Parents Association met at the Beaver High School annex to map football trips for the fall season. Wounded Churchill Returns To Tokyo
War correspondent Randolph Churchill son of Winston Churchill returned to Tokyo after a Korea mortar burst wounded him slightly. Frank Emery of International News Service was also hit but not seriously hurt and remained with U S forces in Korea. The army reported no serious injuries among the pair and an American soldier badly wounded could not be moved.

Three County Draftees Fail To Show For Beckley Exams
Three Mercer county men missed the trip to Beckley for pre induction physicals. Forty called, 33 made the trip. Sylvester Adams of Lamar Wyatt Armstead of Wolfe and Leonard Smith of Bluefield were absent. Names of those transferred and others making the trip are listed. Ralph Edward Farmer led the group with Sammie Semencke assisting.

Thief Robs Mullens Bus Terminal in Broad Daylight
An elderly janitor in Mullens West Virginia recounted how a stocky man posed as a bus driver trapped overnight and robbed the Consolidated terminal. The thief emptied coin boxes and escaped in an old car, while police recovered details for arrest attempts.
