New York Aug 24 The week ends with a brighter stock market tone as panic from political factors fades. Treasury relief actions boost opening prices and major dividends loom from Standard Oil and railroads, though metal demand softens and bank clearings lag year ago.
New York reports September disbursements by railroads, industrial and mining firms totaling about 76,296,205 dollars, the largest September distribution on record. Railroads and miscellaneous companies show substantial payments in dividends and interest, with year-over-year increases driven by many initial dividends and higher bonded debt among small firms.
In Georgetown Kentucky Caleb Powers released an interview backing former Governor W S Taylor. He urges the return of the 100000 corruption fund to the state treasury before Powers goes home to face trial or testify. Washington Aug 24 Thomas R Preece first vice president of the International Bricklayers Union said the building trades strike here would extend to six additional cities Monday morning He will call out union mechanics in open shop contracts in Wheeling Rochester Niagara Falls Detroit Cleveland and Somerville He predicted work on the 250000 federal building in Somerville would halt.
Hon. E. F. Noel of Holmes county was nominated for governor in the Democratic primary. Karl Brewer conceded the nomination tonight and urged Democrats to support Noel. The nomination is considered equivalent to election.
Richmond Indiana August 24 John M Westcott noted millionaire manufacturer and capitalist dies at his home after a long illness at age 73.
Letters from Fez report a very grave situation with all European residents deciding to depart immediately. The notice mentions food service at the Bluefield Inn and promotes DeWitt's Little Early Risers and Bub letter & Barnes products, followed by a diet advice and Kodol for indigestion. Fresh melons are advertised at Sublette & Barnes.

Parkersburg August 24 The Parkersburg police tonight arrested Jennie Williams a well known washerwoman believed to be an accomplice of a thieves gang that last Tuesday night robbed three local dentists offices and looted their offices of valuables
Police seized gold worth more than 1000 dollars from a woman arrested by Chief Oliver while she tried to sell dental gold fillings and crowns to jewelers in the city trench. She claimed dentists in Marietta Wheeling St Marys and Sistersville gave the gold but authorities doubt the tale and hold her for Monday hearing.
Four section hands were instantly killed and foreman Julius Moss Ellman was seriously injured when a runaway box car struck three loaded cars on a spur track of the Missouri Pacific railway near Eureka Missouri late today. The deceased are Bert Wilton James Larken Mike Miller and William Whitehouse.
