College Hires Donna Shehane as Radiography Chair
Donna Shehane, formerly of Princeton, becomes chair of South College's new radiography department in Knoxville. She previously led ETSU's radiologic technology program for 12 years and held roles at Bluefield State College and Nashville General Hospital. She holds a DOE from East University and multiple health education degrees. The move follows her relocation from Johnson City to Rutledge.

West Virginia seeks affordable health insurance for all
West Virginia expands child coverage but leaves 19 to 64 year olds uninsured. A Health Advisory Council, at Gov Wise’s request, studies employer provided insurance as most adults get coverage through jobs. A survey of 515 employers shows company size influences offers. 93 percent say coverage helps attract workers, yet affordability limits provision.

West Virginia study shows gap in employer health coverage
The WVU Health Policy Institute and Gov Wise report that 61 percent of uninsured WV adults are workers. Among the working uninsured 30 percent toil over 40 hours weekly, 21 percent over 50. Only 38 percent of construction and 47 percent of retail workers receive employer health insurance, while manufacturing offers it to over 81 percent. Two thirds of WV workers are at small firms, where uninsured rates are higher. Richardson notes many employers overestimate spouse coverage, and 91 percent see uninsured adults as a critical issue.
