Pi Beta Phi alumnae and active members hosted a 1 o'clock luncheon at the West Virginia hotel to honor local girls bound for college. A Pi Phi arrow-pin cake centerpiece, pearl candies, blue and wine flowers, tiny matchbox place cards, and miniature china-shoe ashtrays as favors highlighted the event attended by 24 Pi Phi alumnae and guests including Miss Jennie Grainger and Miss Elizabeth Bailey who led arrangements.

Dunbar Pageant Promises Ambition and Progress in Dunbar
Under Miss Irene Norris direction a 350 member cast will stage a historical pageant in Dunbar West Virginia this evening. Miss Norris researched the piece with sister Mrs Vivian Norris Putnam in charge of stage and costumes. Sponsored by the Dunbar Fire Department, the event includes Archery Club Indians and ladder stunts by firefighters. The pageant follows Ambition and Progress striving to grow Dunbar in the Kanawha valley. After the show Miss Norris and Mrs Putnam will travel to Bluefield.

Firefighters End Convention Here
In Huntington the West Virginia Association of Firefighters chose the 1940 convention site during a Tuesday to Wednesday session. The next gathering will be the third week in August. A noon adjournment followed a final meeting and a farewell Syncheon at the Pinnacle restaurant with an informal smoker at the West Virginian hotel. A resolution of thanks to Bluefield officials and the local entertainment committee was drafted by W. L. Anderson of Martinsburg.

Ninth annual occasion honors two elderly veterans
Two very elderly men, John Hamlin aged eighty four of Bland County Virginia and A C Wikle aged ninety four of Greenville, attended the ninth annual occasion. The ninth annual Croy family reunion was held near Oakvale with about 135 attendees from Charlocksburg to Cheyenne. Participants traveled from numerous Virginia towns and West Virginia areas.
