A section of Princeton Avenue near Lee Street caved in yesterday, about twenty feet deep and thirty feet long, damaging the street across its full width. Observers say a small cavern under the road had existed for years and contributed to the collapse. The incident caused substantial property damage estimated in the hundreds of dollars.

Sol Cohen of Bluefield leaves for Washington and Martinsburg on vacation. Mrs H B Warvin and Miss Benton depart for Louisville. Mr and Mrs John T Barnes of Salem visit friends in the city. Miss Blanche Gilliam of Roanoke returns home after visiting Mrs Litchford. Rev H J Dudley of Seototoville is vacationing with his mother and son James R Dudley in Falls Mills.

Engineer L Stone was badly scalded Monday when the crown sheet of the engine failed at Williamson yards and was taken to Bluefield Sanitarium in serious condition. Stone walked a short distance after the accident. fireman John Mattox is reported dying and severely injured. Stone’s wife Mrs Stone accompanied him from Williamson. In Wytheville, Va., Aug 24 Rev WJ Browne announced plans for Villa Maria Academy Golden Jubilee with events on September 6 including a high mass led by Rev H Olivier and the Villa Maria Alumnae Society meeting.
Mrs. W R Laughlin of Bluefield reports dizziness nervous spells and back and kidney pains eased by Doan's Kidney Pills. She confirmed her satisfaction in 1916 after years of improvement and recommended the remedy for kidney troubles.
