Jeffery Compton, 43, of Bandy Virginia, was arrested on federal firearm charges after a year long joint investigation by the ATF the Tazewell County Sheriff s Office the Drug Task Force the Commonwealth Attorney s Office and the Virginia State Police. McDowell County man Douglas P Marrs, 59, Welch, received a 10 to 20 year term for 24 counts of sexual assault and related offenses involving a minor. Judge John R. Frazier denied a new trial and probation, with Marrs to serve five years on post release probation after completion. Also on Monday Richard Lee Hurst, 59, Princeton, pled guilty to unlawful assault and got one to five years. probation was denied.
