Charleston August 20 Special Of the 124 WPA administrative workers and employees receiving salary increases in the first six months of this year thirty five are attached to the state headquarters station in Chattenon The total of their salary boosts amounts to 9027 58 per year about one fifth of the grand total 44627 78 given to all WPA personnel in salary increases since January 1 The Charleston headquarters staff receiving boosts and their old and new monthly salaries are listed.

Earl Goodwin Fined for Reckless Driving
Earl Goodwin was fined for reckless driving after a Saturday night crash on the Blucheld Princeton highway that hurt 20 year old Miss Lucy Wickline and her father. State police cited Goodwin for aiding Wickline and reporting the accident despite injuries, while Matt Goonwich, 21, of McComas, paid $26 in Magliatrate W. W. McNeal's court. Wickline, recovering at St. Like's hospital, was initially thought fatally injured.

TWO ASHEVILLE FUGITIVES ARRESTED IN M'DOWELL
Harry Johnson and Green Harris both about 36 years old were fugitives wanted on murder charges in Asheville North Carolina. Arrests occurred in McDowell County on Wednesday aided by George S Nagh Norfolk and Western railway telegrapher. Johnson nabbed at Keystone and Harris at Caretta. They were held by Nash and Constable J Earle Batley and sent to North Carolina authorities. The alleged crime took place about two months earlier in Asheville.

Death of Harry Davis from McComas Montcham wreck
Harry G. Davis a 16 year old musician with Jack Clark’s Heroes of the Hills band died after injuries from an auto wreck on the McComas Montcham road. He was treated at Binefield Sanitarium after a blood transfusion and abdominal operation. Passenger Richard Perdue 19 escaped with minor injuries. State police investigation opened. Davis’s parents and siblings survive. Funeral arrangements not announced.

Following an eight month illness Dr Joel H Smith of Matewan died at Bluefield sanitarium at 10 95 yesterday morning. He was 32, born in Charleston and educated at Concord college and Richmond Medical college. He served as a relief worker for coalfield physicians and became the Leckie Coal company physician in Matewan. He is survived by his parents and several siblings. Funeral services Sunday at the Athens Methodist Church. Interment in Hightown cemetery at Oak Hill.

Richmond Man Released After Serving Time For Poison Plot
Edward C. Bell of Fredericksburg, a businessman and church official, was freed in Richmond after serving about half of a three year term for attempted poisoning of his wife. He had been moved to state prison in March 1935 after stay at Marion hospital and earned 16 days per month for good behavior. A grand jury had indicted him on 12 counts in October 1934, his trial ending in December 1934 with a verdict that sent him to Marion for care and observation. He had not returned home as of Fredericksburg reports, and officials described him as a model prisoner who may work as a clerk at the state farm during part of his term.
