West Virginia Health Care Authority OKs BRMC rate hike
The West Virginia Health Care Authority approved an 11.80 percent rise in nongovernmental rates for Bluefield Regional Medical Center. The 2002 average charge per discharge is projected at 7,942.19 dollars, up from 7,104.03 dollars in 2001. The board cited a near target of 12 percent sought by BRMC, with adjustments for previous overages and a separate 12 percent increase for nongovernmental outpatient visits. The new rates exclude Medicare, Medicaid, and other government programs.
