Welfare funds and dues questions raised for miners

WELFARE FUNDS warrant assumption of further obligations since it would be unable to meet them under present conditions. When conditions permit, we hope to broaden the 1950 welfare program given the unfortunate circumstances of those we cannot help now. Cline asked Lewis about disabled miners paying $1 monthly dues to the UMW when not receiving benefits. Lewis replied that current good standing membership is a key eligibility requirement for welfare and retirement fund benefits and urged dues stay paid.
