Falls Mills man electrocuted by water hose incident
Leonard Belcher twenty two of Falls Mills was fatally electrocuted when a 250 volt current traveled along a water stream from a hose to his body while fighting a small fire at Seyler Lumber in Bluefield Virginia. Fireman for stationary boilers, he died after three hours of resuscitation efforts by Appalachian Power Company workers and Dr. H B Frazier. Belcher, recently married, is survived by his wife and family. Funeral plans pending with burial at Falls Mills expected Saturday.

Five Miners Die in Lochrie Mine Explosion Near Johnstown
Five miners were killed in an explosion at the Lochrie mine of Tunnel Smokeless Coal near Johnstown Pennsylvania. Four others escaped as rescue crews recovered the bodies after hours of search. The blast likely started from a gas pocket 2800 feet back from the drift where nine men worked.
