Regional Jail Authority head Steve Canterbury warned lawmakers that population growth outpaces capacity and noted mandatory terms keep inmates in regional jails longer. Prosecutor Bill Sadler urged judicial input on any sentence reductions and highlighted efforts like the Day Report Center in Princeton to handle non-violent offenders with counseling, training, and supervision.
