Wytheville Va The annual Water Carnival sponsored by the Wytheville Recreation Commission has been postponed from August 10 to August 14 at 8 p.m. at McWane Pool. Practices begin August 6 at 9 a.m. Pool hours will be restricted to participants next week, and organizers seek participant reporting by Monday. The theme for this year is Never Never Land.

Tazewell Schools Plan Sept 4 Opening Across Six Schools
Tazewell County officials prepare for the September 4 start for about 12,000 pupils across six high schools and several elementary schools with 425 teachers. The Graham High School building will open first this year as part of a $5,000,000 expansion program funded by bond and state grants. A preschool workshop at Tazewell High School is set for August 30–31. The district expands vocational training with a diversified occupations course at Tazewell County High School led by Edward Coleman. Richlands offers diversified occupations and distributive education under Mrs. Frances R. Lambert. Vocational agriculture operates at Tazewell, Richlands, and Burkes Garden. commercial, home economics, and related courses exist across Graham, Pocaontas, Richlands, and Burkes Garden schools.
