In Monday’s auction the Treasury sold 16 billion dollars of three month bills at 1.60 discount, down from 1.68 last week, and 16 billion dollars of six month bills at 1.56, down from 1.69. The three month rate was the lowest since January and the six month rate the lowest since 1958. The effective yields were 1.627 percent at 10,000 dollar bills and 1.589 percent for six month bills. The Fed also reported the one year constant maturity yield slipped to 1.82 percent last week from 1.88 percent.
