Incubation customs drift as Bible lands grow poultry sense

New York Aug 6 Thea heena of Palestine and Haypt have lost the habit of sitting on eggs and cannot perform duties, says Misa Phylia Brown a Vadedr graduate teaching poultry raising in Near East Relief agricultural schools for refugee orphans. She notes native incubators are primitive and unreliable, with a PHP archaic furnace and no thermometer. In villages hatchings occur in a large building with several ovens handling 80 000 to 150 000 eggs yearly. Eggs are bought for one cent each and chicks sold back for 2.5 cents, yielding modest profits as hatch rates average about 60 percent. Brown argues scientific instruction will boost output, with many orphans going into farming and poultry after graduation at sixteen.
