Baldwin A H Baldwin and T L Felts faced off with Thomas Menefee, a former Baldwin employee, who claimed Menefee had libeled Baldwin. Menefee was wounded in the hip and arrested after the exchange and doctor visits.

Murder at Pocahontas: Trigg Shot at Home in Jealousy Case
John Trigg a 21 year old resident of Pocahontas was shot at his St. Clair street home around 11 PM Monday. Sue Holly a colored woman accused of the crime says the deceased shot himself but the wound suggests otherwise. An inquest found death by pistol but the hearing against Holly postponed to Friday at the request of Trigg’s relatives. Trigg had a troubled romance with Holly and had lived with her as man and wife without marriage. His body was brought to Graham for burial yesterday.
