Mrs. Sarah Pearl Beavers 73 of Bandy Virginia died Sunday morning after a brief illness in a Bluefield hospital. Survivors include her husband William Beavers two daughters Ruby Gagnell Beavers and June Elizabeth Beavers seven sons George Samuel Thomas Lee Beavers Robert Beavers Claude Sylvester Beavers and James Lloyd Beavers two sisters Mrs Elsie Syers and Mrs Eliza Hawkins a foster sister Mrs Virgie Lowe and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home with Rev. Robert Sturgill and Rev. Keith Blevins officiating burial followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens Claypool Hill Virginia. The body was taken to the home today from Mullins Funeral Home in Richlands.

Fire and blast devastate Noel rail yard area

A second larger blast caused most damage as about 150 yards from the railroad firemen were blown off their feet though unharmed. A boxcar loaded with dehydrated alfalfa blew up while an adjacent ammonium perchlorate car derailed but stayed intact. GED Test Set for Bluefield State College

Man Charged After Fight Near Pocahontas Virginia

Russell Crawford of Bluefield faces felonious assault charges after a Saturday fight at Bluestone Junction near Pocahontas. He allegedly struck his brother Sam Crawford with a tire jack. Three Killed On State Highways

West Virginia highway crashes last weekend killed at least three people, raising the annual toll to 335. Gilbert Edmonds, 72, Charleston, died Sunday afternoon after being struck by a truck driven by Edgar McCullough, 59, South Charleston, who faced negligent homicide charges. Roger Lee Vanhorn, 16, Clee, Calhoun County, died when his car on WV 16 near Arnoldsburg rolled over after brake failure. five other youths were uninjured.
